We are currently monitoring the coronavirus situation very intensively. As the owner of the Kara Johnstad School Of Voice, I and my staff, teachers and lecturers are responsible for our students - and for the whole team.
In these challenging times, we are all being asked to look within and reflect. In doing so, we come back to the values that are dear to us. Community, health, self-growth and the transformational power of music and voice to keep us healthy and well. In light of these values, we are happy to announce

Music is our life. Music is our business and making music together is our declared goal. We see it as our responsibility to maintain normality for all of us in this exceptional situation, to keep calm and offer perspectives. 

At the School Of Voice, we have been practicing alternative online teaching formats for a long time and are well prepared for the current situation.

All teachers are recommended to contact you directly and support you in continuing your studies with ease. If you have not already done so, please get in touch with your teacher and start a mutual dialogue.

I would like to offer the following options:

We have been practicing online lessons successfully with our international students for many years and it is clearly our recommendation for you and the easiest way to study, sing, make music and write from the comfort of your own home.

The creation of an online account at ZOOM.us is free of charge for our students.

The School Of Voice maintains an extensive business account that guarantees our students and teachers the best possible transmission quality at all times, even in times of increased demand. You can easily connect with your teacher via smartphone tablet, laptop or desktop.

Furthermore, we are in the process of optimizing all our music school rooms for online teaching.

This is a wonderful development, as many of you have your roots in more than one country. This development ensures that in the future you can have class from anywhere around the world with an internet connection!

Group classes such as Mini Kids, Kids Choir can be implemented in the beginning with the help of tutorials and videos.  We send your group videos or worksheets with fun tasks and give you recordings where you can play, sing and dance along and you simply send the results back. We will also be developing the possibility of creating the class interactively online via ZOOM. Stay tuned and connect with Lizzy. 

I have been leading Voice Yoga Circles online for the past 2 years and it is only natural that our Berlin Voice Yoga Women's Circle be held online for the time being. For those of you yet unfamiliar with this class, it is a wonderful opportunity to boost your immune system and stay strong and resilient during this transition time.

For those of you already in the group, we will send you the login information and celebrate our first online class.
For all others, you are welcome to join us together with your family. The more the merrier. All you need is a few cushions on the floor or a chair and a quiet place to dive into tuning your voice and exploring a rejuvenation practice.

The creative writing course with Susanne Zeyse can be continued online. Make a tea, get your journal all set and enjoy keeping up with your practice and writing what is on your mind. Writing is a great way to stay balanced and tuned in. 

We hope that this is only a couple of weeks, but if need be, we are set up to offer all courses as webinars.

Make-up lessons during the school summer holidays: Depending on the situation, we can shorten the summer holidays to make up for missed lessons.

Private one-to-one lessons can, of course, be continued in our music school rooms after consultation with the teacher.
