A New Rhythm at School of Voice

Clearer schedules. A shared teaching calendar. More continuity for students and teachers.

Good teaching needs continuity, trust and time.

From September 2026, we’re introducing a new membership and pricing structure for School of Voice Berlin. At its heart is a more regular rhythm.

    Why now

    Simpler around the teaching.

As School of Voice has grown, so has everything around the teaching — schedules, memberships, lesson formats, holidays, cancellations and administration.

Over the past months, we’ve taken a close look at that structure and asked ourselves a simple question:

How can we make things clearer, more consistent and more supportive of the way we actually want to teach?

    Your lesson time

A regular time for your lessons.

Our new Studio Memberships are built around a regular reserved lesson time.

For most students, that means meeting your teacher at the same time each week. We also offer a bi-weekly membership with one lesson every two weeks.

We want to move away from schedules that are constantly rebuilt from week to week. A regular time gives you something dependable to build on. It gives teachers a clearer teaching week. And it leaves more energy for the part that matters most:

    the work itself.

Of course, life still happens. Individual changes will sometimes be necessary, and our cancellation and replacement-lesson policies are there for those moments.

    Teaching calendar

A rhythm that follows the Berlin school year.

Regular private lessons and ongoing classes will follow the School of Voice Teaching Calendar, based around the Berlin school year.

That means there will be no regular lessons or ongoing classes during the Berlin school holidays and designated teaching breaks .

Those breaks are already built into the membership structure and monthly fee.

36 minimum regular lessons with a weekly Studio Membership over 12 months
18 minimum lessons with Studio 12 Bi-weekly over 12 months

And School of Voice doesn’t necessarily go quiet during the holidays. Those weeks give us room for workshops, intensives, creative projects, holiday programs and special events.

    Communication

    Closer to your teacher.

Once you’ve joined us for regular lessons, you and your teacher will coordinate your ongoing teaching schedule directly.

Our office will continue to take care of enquiries, introductions and trial lessons — and we’ll always be there when something needs our help.

But once the teaching relationship is established, we want communication to stay as close as possible to the people actually making the music.

Your agreed appointments will continue to be recorded in Pike13, our central scheduling system.

    Studio Memberships

Different levels of commitment. The same teaching relationship.

    Studio 1+

An ongoing membership with one month’s notice.

    Studio 12

A 12-month membership for weekly lessons.

    Studio 12
    Bi-weekly

A 12-month membership with one 45-minute lesson every two weeks.

    Studio 24

A 24-month membership and our best long-term value.

Fixed-term memberships end automatically when the agreed term is complete. They do not automatically renew into another fixed-term contract.

We’ll also continue to offer trial lessons, single sessions, prepaid lesson cards, group classes and individual coaching with Kara Johnstad .

    Updated prices

A sustainable structure for the long term.

Alongside the new structure, we’re also updating our prices.

School of Voice has grown considerably over the years — not only in size, but in the range and quality of what happens here.

A sustainable structure allows us to keep investing in our studios, our organisation and, importantly, the teachers whose experience, care and artistry make School of Voice what it is.

You’ll find the current prices and all membership options together on our pricing page →

    Already studying with us?

You don’t need to do anything right now.

The new model will not simply replace your current arrangement overnight.

We’ll contact our existing students personally and explain what the transition means for your lessons, membership, price and timing .

Until then, your current arrangement continues as agreed.

We know that changes to familiar routines — and especially changes involving prices — deserve clear communication. When it’s time for your own transition, we’ll make sure you know exactly what is changing, when it changes and what your options are.

    When plans change

    A simpler cancellation structure.

If you need to cancel a regular Studio Membership lesson at least 48 hours in advance, we’ll look with you for a possible replacement appointment within the following 14 days, depending on your teacher’s availability.

If your teacher has to cancel, we’ll make sure the lesson is not simply lost.

And if illness prevents you from attending for at least two consecutive weeks, your membership may be paused by agreement.

The complete contractual details are available in our updated Terms & Conditions.

    Why we’re making these changes

We don’t want School of Voice to become more complicated as it grows.

    We want the opposite.

    A clearer calendar.

A regular time for your lessons.

Fewer moving pieces behind the scenes.

More direct relationships between students and teachers.

A structure that can support great teaching for the long term.

Because learning music isn’t really built from isolated appointments.

It happens through returning. Listening. Trying again. Finding a rhythm.

And doing that alongside people who know you.

Find your voice. Find your rhythm. Find your people.
