• Takumi Motokawa

  • Takumi Motokawa teaches piano, keyboard, percussion, composition, conducting and audio production.

    Takumi who was born in Japan and grew up in New Zealand started to play the piano from an early age, he also started playing mallet percussion from the age of 15.

    Between 2006-2015, he was a core member of New Zealand’s premier percussion ensemble Strike Percussion. There he was not just only performing but also taught many school-age students to adult percussion in a group workshop setting throughout New Zealand and internationally.

    His musical style encompasses a diverse spectrum of musical genres, traditions, and innovation from classical music to electronic music genres.

  • Since moving to Berlin in 2015, he has been working with Shackleton and performed together with him at the Atonal festival and many other music festivals around Europe.
